Library Upgrade

At the Shelter of Hope Center, every day is about rebuilding lives. For the children, youth, and families we serve, education is more than learning—it is a pathway to stability, confidence, and opportunity. Our library has long been a quiet place of refuge, but today it can no longer meet the growing needs of our community.

Mildred Awuor Ochola

Mildred Awuor Ochola was born on 27th July 2013 to Lilian Awino Otina, single mother. Mildred’s mother works as maid in Homa Bay town. Mildred lives with her grandmother who depends on subsistence farming for a living. Mildred is in Pre-School level one (1) at Shelter of Hope Academy. She enjoys number work. She is quite and friendly girl who loves her classmates. At home, she helps out by cleaning utensils and feeding chicken. She enjoys drawing pictures and playing with toys during her free time. Mildred has not decide on her future career.

Handy Willis Okello

Handy Willis Okello was born on 21st March 2013, Nairobi County, to George Olum and Ruth Awuor. Both parents are alive and are peasant farmers in kagan village, Homa Bay County. Handy is in Pre-School level one (1) at Shelter of Hope Academy. He is friendly and bright boy. At home, he helps out by looking after small animals. At his tender age, Handy enjoys playing football with classmates. Rice and beans are his favorite dishes. Handy fellowships at Grace Bible Chapel in Sunday school. Handy wishes to be a pilot when he grows up.

Moses Ochiri Ouma

Moses Ochiri Ouma was born on 20th June 2008 to Geophrey Ouma Ochiri and Millicent Akello Ouma who are residents of Gongo village, Homa Bay and works in informal sector. Moses works is in grade four (4) at Shelter of Hope Academy. Mathematics is his best subject. Moses belongs to pathfinder category in Seventh Day Adventist. At home, Moses helps out by looking after animals and fetching water. Moses loves to play volleyball. He aspires to be engineer in future.
